William Andrew Mohrmann
June 11, 1941-July 4, 2025
William Andrew Mohrmann was born in Brooklyn on June 11, 1941, and raised by his parents in Floral Park, Long Island. He attended college at CW Post where he played lacrosse. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Army on a gunboat.
He married his wife Meridee on July 8, 1967, and raised his twin daughters Valerie and Kimberly in Shoreham, NY, attending many field hockey, volleyball and softball games. He also has three grandchildren, Will, Thomas and Kyler. He was a loving father to his girls and Papa to his grand boys.
Early in his professional career he had a soda route and eventually went on to buy his first McDonald's franchise in 1971 in Center Moriches. He was a self-made man, and his legacy goes far beyond his days as a McDonald's owner/operator. He gave back to the community in many ways including joining the Board of Directors that opened the first Ronald McDonald House on Long Island. He was involved in the Suffolk County Special Olympics, the Red Cross, the P.A.L., Friends of Karen, American Cancer Society, Dollars for Scholars, and distributed food and beverages to responders to the TWA Flight 800 crash and the 1995 Pine Barrens fire.
Bill served in the McDonald's community as well as the head of the Long Island Operators Association, Purchasing Committee, OPNAD Representative, and is an honorary member of the Board of Directors to the previously mentioned Long Island Ronald McDonald House.
Bills hobbies included boating, fishing, golfing, and entertaining friends and family. Although he had a successful professional career, he will be remembered for his service to the Long Island community, his love and care for his family and friends, and his service to his country.
He will now be reunited with his wife Meridee who is the love of his life and was a heck of a cook and a fantastic Mother and Yaya to her grand boys.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 12, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM, at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located at 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's Memory to Ronald McDonald House.
