Vincent S. Taggart, of Wading River, died on January 17, 2021 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 71 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent J. Taggart and Eleanore McNeill Taggart, and his sister, Maryellen Taggart. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Newton Taggart, his children, James and Ann Marie Taggart of Wading River, Janet Rahman of Great Neck, his sister, Dolores Taggart Sabia of Overland Park, Kansas, and his granddaughter, Miriam Rahman. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y on November 27, 1949. He grew up in Williston Park and attended St. Aidan’s School and Archbishop Molloy High School. He also attended Niagara University and Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Vincent, Vinnie to his friends, was a longtime resident of Wading River, N.Y. and was employed as a Site Security Agent for LILCO at the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station. He retired in 2008 from National Grid. Vincent served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a sharpshooter and awarded a distinguished medal. Visitation will be on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Alexander Rothwell Funeral Home on 25A in Wading River, N.Y. from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Catholic mass and Christian burial will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul in Manorville, N.Y. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery following the mass.
