Robert L. Monaghan

Robert L. Monaghan was born in Queens, NY. He grew up in Richmond Hill and Jamaica, Queens and graduated from Jamaica High School. He served in the United States Navy where he learned aviation mechanics. While working for Long Island Lighting Company in Port Jefferson, NY he met his wife Frances A. Mack. They married in June 1958. After briefly working in Philadelphia, PA for Sikorsky Aircraft, they returned to Long Island where they settled in the Village of Shoreham in 1960. Robert retired from Brookhaven National Laboratory in 1993. In 1998, they moved to Salisbury, MD and returned to Long Island in 2012. Robert was an avid bicyclist and camper,and traveled the country extensively enjoying these hobbies with family and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan McDonald, wife Frances, and is survived by daughters Kathleen Monaghan of Ridge, NY,  Ellen Kaspar of Shoreham, NY and grandsons Erik and Adam Kaspar.
