Robert J. Brovetto

Robert J. Brovetto of Ridge passed away on Friday, June 19th, 2026. He was 84 years old.

The son of the late Hugh and Anne Brovetto, Robert was born May 12th, 1942 and spent his childhood growing up in Bellerose, NY. After graduating from Martin Van Buren High School, he enlisted into the United States Navy, being deployed as a communications specialist. Once his time in the service ended, he worked as an insurance agent for Allstate for over 30 years. He married his wife Gayle in 1965.

Later in his life, Robert joined the Order of the Freemasons, and was a member of the society for 45 years. He was a member of the Suffolk Lodge in Port Jefferson, before transferring to the Riverhead lodge. He was appointed as deputy grand master from 2008 to 2010.

Those who remember Robert describe him as caring, compassionate, loyal, and having a keen sense of humor. He had a strong sense of duty, and was heavily devoted to his family, friends, and community. Through these ideals he held, he left his mark on anyone who got the chance to meet him.

Robert is predeceased by his twin brother, Kenneth Brovetto. He is survived by his wife Gayle, his son Todd Brovetto and his husband Sven Ebinger, his daughter Kimberly Whritner and her husband John, granddaughters Meagan Zaionz and husband Christopher, and Lauren Whritner, great-grandson William Zaionz, as well as many cherished friends and family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located at 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY. A Prayer Service will take place on Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 AM at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Wading River Cemetery located at 2201 N Wading River Road, Wading River, NY 11792.
