I deliver this as a grateful and loving Grandson of Richard Zijacek, a man who set the true example of what it means to be a gentleman.

My grandfather, Richie, touched my life in more positive ways than I can count, just as he did with everyone he met. He genuinely loved meeting new people and had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued. He greeted everyone with a smile, took the time to truly get to know them, and never hesitated to help, whether someone needed support or just a little kindness.

One of his greatest accomplishments, and one that deserves to be honored above all else, was being an incredible husband to my Grandmother, Bettie. He showed us every day what true partnership looks like. He listened with patience, provided with strength and consistency, and understood that compromise was not a weakness, but an act of love. Above all else, he loved her unconditionally. Their marriage was built on respect, loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they created a life rooted in family and love, and their relationship was a living reflection of the values my grandfather carried with him every day.

He will be missed more than words can express, but his impact will never fade. We will carry him with us in our hearts forever. I want to thank him for the example he set, for showing us what a good man, a good partner, and a good human being should be.
