Raymond E. Trettner

Raymond E. Trettner passed away peacefully surrounded by those he loved on June 10, 2026. He lived a life defined by service, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to his family and community.

Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he devoted 20 years as a Suffolk County Police Officer. He continued his commitment to public safety by helping establish the private Village of Shoreham Police, where he worked for over 25 years protecting and serving the community he loved.

Above all else, Raymond’s pride and joy were his children. He was a fiercely loyal family man—always present, always supportive, and deeply devoted to those he loved.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Trettner; his four children, John (Jennifer) Trettner, William (Lisa) White, Melinda Trettner, and Rae Marie Trettner; and his cherished grandchildren, Dante D’Ottavio, Samantha White, Kylie Trettner, Tyler Trettner, and Hannah Brooks. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan White, who will forever remain in his heart.

To those who knew him best, “Ray” was a man who could fix or build anything. He was rarely still—always tinkering around the house, cleaning or maintaining his beloved Jayco motor home, golfing, or camping. Known throughout the neighborhood for his immaculate lawn, Raymond took great pride in everything he touched, doing it with care, precision, and heart.

Raymond’s legacy lives on through his family, the countless lives he protected, and the community that was better for having known him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
