Michael Thomas Tucker Obituary Obituary for Michael Thomas Tucker September 17, 1966 - February 21, 2024 Michael Thomas Tucker, 57, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on February 21, 2024. He had been suffering with chronic medical conditions for many years. Michael was the eldest of four children of Thomas and Peggy Tucker. He was born in Freeport but grew up in Farmingville, NY. After graduating Sachem High School, he worked as a machinist. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1990 and served as a radio operator in many parts of the world. During the Bosnian Conflict, he supported NATO Operations on the USS Saipan aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal in 1994 and was always proud of being a Marine, Semper Fi! Following his grandfather’s footsteps, he worked for Northrop-Grumman but chronic health conditions prevented him from working consistently. He had as many day jobs as his health allowed. He always did whatever he could to support himself and was grateful for the extra support from family and friends. Michael loved his four-legged friends, doting on them and calling them his children. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and being on the water in lakes and ponds on Long Island. His neighbors and friends all remember him as a warm, caring man. As one friend put it, “He really was a very good guy.” He was always ready to help. He helped his mother at the Outreach at St. John the Baptist Church, even dressing as Santa for the preschool children. In 2010, Michel was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy, to whom he was very close. He is also predeceased by three aunts. He is survived by his father, Thomas (Barbara), his brother, David (Jennifer), his sister, Tricia (Rich) and brother, Eric. He is also survived by a nephew and wife, grandnephew, five uncles and an aunt, cousins, and extended Tubito-Megara family who share many loving family memories. Michael was always family-oriented. He had a long relationship with his partner, Cindy.
He will be sorely missed.
