Michael R Light - the best son, brother, friend and neighbor, anyone could hope for, passed on Sunday, June 11, 2021.
After graduating from George Washington University, Mike studied French History at Sorbonne and later earned a masters degree in history from Brooklyn College.
A veteran of the US Army and a Vietnam vet - Mike served his tour in Bihn Wah and was best remembered as the “Radar O’Riley” of his unit.
An absolute lover of the arcane - which always made for interesting conversation - and a proud member of the Wading River Historical Society, Mike was also an avid conservationist and and cared deeply about maintaining the agro-nature of the North Fork.
His family and friends welcome you to celebrate his extraordinary life and if you wish - share some “Mike” stories - on Friday, July 16 between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon at the Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, 6447 Route 25A, Wading River.
Directly after our gathering at Alexander-Rothwell - Mike will be buried at Pine Lawn Cemetery. All are invited to join his family there, for a very brief ceremony. Later that evening, friends will gather at the Beach Gate, on Cliff Road, to do what Mike loved best - enjoy good food and good conversation!
