It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Hayes, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 88.

Mary was born on August 16, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up with a deep appreciation for family and community. She later moved to Patchogue, New York, where she and her late husband, Gordon Edward Hayes, built a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and love. Together, they raised nine children, instilling in them the values of kindness, resilience, and togetherness.

Mary was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren. Survived by one sister. Her family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in the milestones and everyday moments of her loved ones' lives. 

Mary’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She loved getting lost in the pages of Danielle Steel novels, where she could escape into heartfelt stories. She found peace and beauty in observing nature, marveling at its wonders with a quiet appreciation. Mary was obsessed with Billy Joel and his music, attending many concerts. Classic television and cooking shows were her companions in quiet moments, and she was always ready to share a recipe or a story inspired by her favorite programs. 

Mary’s life was a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. She will be deeply missed by her very large and grateful family, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
