Lunda Ostrowski

Lunda (nee Drivere) Ostrowski was born in Coalton, WV on September 5, 1923 and had nine siblings.  After moving to Pennsylvania, she met and married Bernie Ostrowski in Farrell, PA in 1942.  After their wedding, they relocated to Manhattan and had their first child, a daughter, Barbara.  Later Lunda and Bernie moved to Ozone Park, Queens where sons Richard and Gary were born.  In 1958 the family moved to Valley Stream and welcomed a third son, Brian.  For over 20 years, Lunda worked retail at Newberry's department store in Valley Stream, then Alexander's, and lastly Bolton's women's clothing store in Cedarhurst.  For the last 13 years, Lunda resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Wading River and enjoyed spending time with friends at the Town of Riverhead's Senior Center. Lunda found joy tending to her gardens and particularly loved roses, lilies of the valley and nurturing her first fig tree.  An avid reader and viewer of true crime stories and game shows, Lunda could be found most afternoons soaking up the sun in her backyard. 

Lunda is survived by her son, Richard, daughter Barbara, daughter-in-law, Kathy and son-in-law Allan, five grandchildren (Michael, Gregory, Kelly, Michele, and Kimberly) and six great-grandchildren (Teagan, Benjamin, Ella, Jamison, Joshua and Jack).

Visitation will be held for Lunda Ostrowski, Monday, March 4, 2024 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located on 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at the funeral home during the Visitation at 3:00 PM. A private cremation will follow the services.
