Leonard Moore

Leonard Moore of Wading River died peacefully at home on August 7, 2026. He was 86 years old.

He was the son of Alfred E. Moore and Theresa (Podsiadlo). He graduated Half Hollow Hills H.S. in 1958, where he was a stellar athlete in football, basketball and baseball. He was a leader in every sport.

On August 4, 1962, he married Lois Broman. This week they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Len was a third-generation farmer. He moved the farm to Wading River from Melville in 1983. He was well respected in the Long Island farming community.

He was a devoted Catholic with a strong faith and a 40-year member of St. John the Baptist RC Church in Wading River.

Len was preceded by his son Leonard and brothers Alfred and Gerald.

He is survived by his wife Lois, his daughters Karen Fenstemaker (Steve), Ingrid Fiorelli (Paul), and his son James; grandchildren Brian Fenstemaker (Katie), Katherine Stadt (Tim), Emily Fenstemaker, Paul Fiorelli (Gabrielle), Alexandra Mariani (Dimitri), Kyle Fiorelli, Katie Moore, Xavier Moore, and 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister Mary Eilers.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 13th at the Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home in Wading River, NY from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

There will be a funeral Mass on Friday, August 14th at St. John the Baptist Church in Wading River at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Len was a loving and deeply cherished presence in the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered with great affection by his friends and family, who were fortunate to share in his kindness. As those who loved Len reflect on his life, they will do so with gratitude for the time they were given and with appreciation for the many ways he enriched their days. He was a loving soul whose presence made the world brighter and whose memory will remain a source of comfort. Though he is no longer with us, Len’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who cherished him, and he will be remembered always with love and respect.
