Julia Maria Cohen Obituary

Julia Maria Cohen, Born July 7th 1937 of Benito Rivera and Carmen Perez in Utuado, Puerto Rico. Julia was one of 6 siblings. Julia was a devoted wife to William Cohen. Julia was the loving mother to Caryn and Toni, devoted mother-in-law to Troy and Eric, doting grandmother “Abuela” to Jake, Sydney, Sofia, Jordyn, Juliana, and Emma, and dedicated aunt “Tia” to her many nieces and nephews.

Julia loved her friends, whom she considered to be an extension of her family. Julia was a devout Catholic, a 3rd Order Franciscan, a Member of the Legion of Mary and was devoted to her work in the church, with the homeless and with the Life Center of Long Island.

Julia passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on February 25th, 2025. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2nd from 2:00-5:00pm at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located at 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 3rd at 10:45am by Father Lawrence Chadwick at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, located at 35 N. Service Rd, Dix Hills, NY.

A Christian Burial will follow at 12:30pm at Pinelawn Memorial Park, located at 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale.
