Joseph Chatterton Obituary

Joseph Francis Chatterton, known to all his friends and family as Mickey, passed away on the 5th of May 2020, at the age of 90. He was the precious son of Joseph and Marie Chatterton and scooch of a brother of Ann Geraghty and Teresa Walter.  He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Antoinette Josephine Chatterton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 3 children, Lynn Furey, Joe Chatterton and Scott Chatterton and their respective spouses Matt,  Lori, and Liz affectionately known as "The Outlaws."  Mickey and Anne have 6 grandchildren, Matt, Ryan, Joe, JT, Dan and Meghan.  And their beautiful great-grandchildren Maggie, Lucas, Eloise and Bailey. Grandson Matthew would argue that technically he is also a "Great" grandchild but JT will shut that down soon enough.
Mickey was a devoted husband,   loving father and corny grandpa. He was always the life of the party. He was a goofball, a jokester, an instigator, and a fun-loving man. He had a huge smile for everyone and his eyes would twinkle when he would kid around with you.  Mickey simply loved everybody and truly wanted everyone to be happy. Mickey and Anne hosted legendary parties at the Perry street house that were usually for no reason at all. Somewhere in heaven there is a party going on!
Mickey and Anne are people of great faith and a life-long love for Jesus.  Mickey was a hard worker, a coach, scoutmaster, a veteran, a member of Kiwanis and Knights of Columbus.  They retired to Pinehurst N.C. 25 years ago.  The grandkids loved to visit so they could drive the golf cart.  Mickey volunteered there at a school for autistic children.
They returned to Long Island in 2018 to be closer to family.  Mickey battled several serious illnesses in his last few years but somehow always bounced back with his ever-present smile. He fought his final battle against the coronavirus at the LI Veterans nursing home.
We were blessed to have Mickey with us for 90 years.  His faith will guide our lives, his jokes will leave laughter in our hearts, his smile will leave a smile on all of our faces and his love will wrap softly around us keeping us warm and safe until we meet in heaven.
