James Slattery

James Slattery, lovingly known as Jim, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. 

Born in Ireland during a family visit, Jim was raised in Centereach by his devoted mom and pop, whose love shaped the kind and gentle man he became.

Jim dedicated his career to education, teaching earth science in the Middle Country School District, where he inspired countless students with his steady presence and love of learning.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ginny Slattery, the love of his life. Together, they shared a deep love of travel and adventure, visiting all 50 states and much of Europe, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Above all else, Jim treasured his family. He was a devoted and loving father to Annette and Ed Moskal, Thomas and Susan Bilski, and Janet and Bob Wilson. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Jennifer and William Shea, Jaime Carfora, Jessica and John McDonough, Justin and Crystal Moskal, Matthew and Victoria Moskal, TJ Bilski, Bryan Bilski, Melissa Murphy, and Kimberly Wharton, great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren, Brother in law to Frank and Phyllis Russo and friend to many.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 3, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM & 7:00 - 9:00 PM, at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located at 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY. A Prayer Service will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at 11:45 AM at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram, NY.
