Ismael Gonzalez

Ismael "Mel" Gonzalez Jr. was a caring husband, father and friend. He left this world on June 27, 2024 at age 68. 

He was born to Ismael Gonzalez Sr. and Josephine Pacheco on April 2nd, 1956. After graduating from High School, Mel pursued his dreams of becoming a lawyer. As a lawyer he served his clients, fulfilling his goals of helping people during their hardships such as bankruptcy and immigration challenges. 

Mel was a foodie and sports fans. He enjoyed going out to eat good-quality food and always had room left for dessert. He was a true New Yorker. New York City was his favorite place to be. Moving between the crowds of people in the busy city was his comfort zone. Being a Yankee fan didn't stop him from rooting for the Mets. If there was a New York team on the field or court, he was always rooting for his home team. Most importantly, he was a true example of a gentleman embodying all the traditional values of chivalry. 

A funeral service is scheduled for 10 am on July 1, 2024 at Alexander Rothwell Funeral Home followed by a Military Funeral Honors burial at Calverton National Cemetery at 1 pm.
