Gregory Joseph Burggraf, age 59 of Rocky Point, New York died on September 22nd, beloved husband of Katherine Martha Scope Burggraf and devoted, adoring father of Ellaina Jane Skop Burggraf. Gregory was predeceased by his dear mother Catherine Mae Sullivan Burggraf, dear stepmother Sally Altman Burggraf and brother George Altman. Gregory is survived by his dear father Robert Anthony Burggraf, brother Andrew (Lisa) Burggraf, sister Peggy (Dennis) Mahon, brother Leif (April) Jacobsen and sister Liv (Matthew) Schumsky, Helen Frangipane Jacobsen, Patricia (George) Barone, Susan (Richard) Scope Crafts and Michael (Bridgette) Scope. Many loving nieces and nephews brought joy to his life, Sara and Luke Burggraf, Emily Mahon, Jason Barone, Adrienne Fernandes, Evan and Avery Scope Crafts, Eric Scope, Dakota, Bailey and Dawson Jacobsen, Piper and Paige Schumsky, great nieces Julia, Ava and Mia Fernandes and many loving cousins. Gregory, an innovative musician, was a talented drummer and guitarist who played at famed Memory Motel and for notable Steven Speilberg. A meticulous, passionate artist, Greg immersed in Escheresque stippling and was recognized in juried art exhibits most notably by Dan Gilhooley of the New York Times. In Greg’s lifetime quest of The Big One, fishing pursuits led him venturing down to every local fishing hole, especially The Terraces On The Sound Beach, waters from his cherished family retreat in Montauk, and the Florida Gulf while snowbirding. Greg secured newsworthy fish especially the muskie in Lake Ronkonkoma, also the location where he dedicated his work life serving The Clubhouse of Suffolk, Inc., a mental health and wellness center for over 25 years, where he met his loving wife and touched many lives especially with his art and quirky humor. He will forever be missed and may he rest peacefully. Reposing is at Alexander Rothwell Funeral Home, 6447 NY-25A Wading River, New York, Friday, October 1st, 2-4pm, 7-9pm and Celebratory Mass on Saturday, October 2nd at 10:30am at St. Anselm’s Episcopal Church, 4 Woodville Road, Shoreham, New York.
