Francis Frederick Richard Leonard McMullan September 26, 1929 – January 22, 2026 To All affectionately “Mac” Mac lived the first 10 years of his life in Ennis, County Claire, Ireland, after being born in Manhattan, New York on September 26, 1929, then, in 1939, returning to the United States aboard the Cross Atlantic Cunard RMS Laconia. Living in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan he graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School for Boys in 1948. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1948 to 1951 as a radio specialist and was stationed in Occupied Germany. Returning to Manhattan Mac worked, alongside his lifelong friend Bill, as a film editor at 20th Century Fox “Movie Tone News,” where Bill would introduce Mac to Eleanor ( nee Petix.) Mac and Ellie married in 1956 and would remain so for 70 years. Living in Yonkers, NY with first born Rosemary, until 1961, when Smithtown Long Island became home as Mac worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory and son Joseph was born. Next, eastward to Wading River, NY, home for the next 60 years. Along the way Mac worked in Computers and Public Utilities. A loving Husband to Eleanor, Father to Rosemary and Joseph, Father-in-Law to Michael and Christine, Cherished Grandfather to Michael and Erin, Hannah and Joseph, and Uncle to Jimmy, Chuck and Steven. A cornerstone figure to all his family and friends, a blessing to have had Mac as part of our daily lives, part of our heritage. We thank you Mac, you are blessed, always to be remembered, always to be with us.
