Charles Voboril, Sr. passed away on November 9, 2021 at 9:16am, at the age of 84. He is survived by his only son, Charles Voboril, Jr. and his wife, Doreen. He served in the US army between 1961 – 1963. He was a member of the Fire Department, joined the Town of Brookhaven Auxiliary Police in 1958, accepted into the Suffolk County Auxiliary Police in 1960 and served until 1967. Rejoined the Suffolk County Auxiliary Police in 1983 and served for a total of 47 years. Some of his notable accomplishments include rising to the ranks as a Deputy Inspector of Unit 6, a certified MPTC General Topics Instructor, an NRA Regional Firearms Instructor and Glock Armorer Training Officer for Unit 6, assisting in the annual training of Auxiliary Police, and received a 2010 Auxiliary Police Service award. Recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, Recipient of the 1985 Suffolk County Police Historical Society Award and Recipient of the SCPD Commissioner Dewitt Treder Letter of Commendation. Charles’ diligence and pride in his community showed in his work and was an inspiration and example to others. Charles is laid to rest, next to his wife Betty Voboril, at Calverton National Cemetery.
