Brenda Mary Fiske died September 2, 2022 at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Hospital in New York City. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Ronald Porter Fiske.
She was born to Denis Barrett and Margaret Spillane Barrett on September 7, 1940 in Queens, NY. She attended school at Holy Cross Academy in Manhattan and then went on to earn a BA at St. Joseph’s College and an MA at Stony Brook University.
Brenda taught special education at several schools, including Briarcliff School, in the Shoreham Wading River School District for more than 20 years. Brenda was also active in many community organizations, including serving on the Board of Education for Little Flower Children Services. She raised her family in Lake Ronkonkoma and Wading River. After retiring she and Ron spent time traveling the world. She loved to entertain especially at holidays.
She is survived by her six children, Ronald Fiske Jr. (Susan) of Fairfield, CT, Kevin Fiske (Lisa) of Stamford, CT, Maureen Fiske (Stephen Reisman) of New York City, Mary Beth Findlay (Doug) of New York City, Edward Fiske (Joleene) of Old Lyme, CT and Denis Fiske (Amy), of Bronxville, NY. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Harry and Caroline Fiske, Megan Fiske Green (Matt) and Kyle Fiske, Erin, Aidan and Colin Reisman, Douglas, Elizabeth and Thomas Findlay, Samantha, Eddie and Jackson Fiske, Abbey, Charlotte and Gavin Fiske.
A wake will be held on Friday, September 9 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located at 6447 Route 25A in Wading River, NY. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 10 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church located at 1488 North Country Road in Wading River. Interment will follow at the Wading River Cemetery located at 2120 North Wading River Road.
