Alice Marie Hammer

Alice Hammer, age 78, of Patchogue NY, passed away on February 7, 2025 after a long battle with cardio-respiratory disease.

Alice was born on August 20, 1946 to Mildred and Harold Maple, both of whom are predeceased. Alice graduated from Connequot High School in 1965 and worked for Grumman on Long Island. 

Alice met the love of her life and beloved husband, James Hammer of 58 years and went on to have 1 child, Laurie, who she became fully devoted to.

Alice served many positions in the Ladies Auxiliary at the Selden Fire Department being past President twice. Later in life Alice loved to garden and worked for Weight Watchers International while volunteering for Samaritan’s Purse.

Alice was a wonderful and devoted Grandmother to her grandson, Christopher, who filled her with true happiness and pride. 

As we remember Alice Hammer, we celebrate a life that was well-lived, a woman who impacted the lives of many, and whose spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. Alice’s legacy of love and dedication will endure in the hearts of her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to get to know her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, located at 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 18, at 10:30 AM at St. Mark's R.C. Church, Shoreham, NY.  A private cremation will follow.
