Born: December 10, 1947
Died: May 31, 2015
Age:  67

Nystedt, Clifford P of Bridgehampton, NY died on May 31, 2015. He was 67. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kubicke). Loving father of Stephanie, Christine and her husband Stephen Mirante, and the late Scott. Dear brother of Margaret Hough-Fjeldheim and her husband Roy Fjeldheim. Treasured grandfather of Scott Nystedt II, and Dennis and Chiara Mirante. Predeceased by his proud parents Margaret (Connelly) and Alf Nystedt.

Cliff was a mentor and father figure to many young people. He retired from Middle Country School District in 2003 after 27 years as an art teacher, many of them as National Art Honor Society advisor. Personally, Cliff developed a successful path as a fine artist known for his realistic oil paintings on canvas and in 3-D wood. He will be forever remembered for his dramatic and pastoral scenes of Long Island landscape and family life. His acclaimed work has been shown along the East Coast and is in private collections of many admirers.

Most notably, Cliff and  Kathleen founded and operated Seacliff Construction while still in college. They have been building and renovating high quality, classic homes on Long Island for over 40 years. In 2005 Seacliff won the "Best Contruction Compamy" award from Dan's Papers. Cliff was respected and loved by customers, peers, contractors, students, and all whose lives he touched. He was a businessman of integrity and honesty, and a creative problem-solver.

A man of many passions, Cliff enjoyed auto racing, golf, cooking, travel and looked forward to anything with his family. He raced a Chevy Camaro in amateur EMRA competition with his son Scott as his main mechanic, and later moved up to semi-pro SCCA racing in a Corvette.

Cliff served proudly for four years in the United States Army in the Vietnam War and loved his country dearly. After returning home, Cliff went on to earn several college degrees up to a Masters from Stony Brook University.

There is just too much about Cliff's wonderful life, legacy and special relationships to include here. He was always a gentleman, intelligent and funny, with a warm and guiding manner. He loved to support people in their big dreams. Cliff Nystedt will be sorely missed by his adoring family, including his grateful nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
