b. APRIL 24, 1931 d. FEBRUARY 26, 2014
Cecile "Ceil" Courville, 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 26th 2014 near her home on eastern Long Island in Riverhead, New York, at a long term care facility after suffering a stroke in January. At her bedside was her husband of 60 years Edward, 86, her son Mark and his wife Patti, both 51. She is predeceased by daughter Janine Talmage of Riverhead, who died in 2013, and is survived by her two children Taylor Talmage, 20, and Clayton Talmage, 18, and brother in law James Courville and wife Joan of Massachussetts.
Cecile May Madaio was born the youngest of 9 children in Worchester, Massachusetts in 1931 to Margaret and Pasquale "Patsy" Madaio. She is predeceased by all her siblings Frank, Joseph, Nancy, Helen, Anthony, Philip, George, Ralph "Buddy", most of who remained in Massachusetts. By age 22 she married Edward Courville and soon after relocated to Little Silver, New Jersey for Ed's job with the Bell phone company. After ten years of marriage they adopted two children and eventually moved to Upper Montclair, New Jersey for years where they forged a life long bond with friends Peter and Bonnie Merkel and their two children David and Renee. Their final move to Glen Ridge is where they remained until 1984, and with both kids graduated from Glen Ridge High School, Ed retired (the first time) from his executive job on Wall Street with AT&T.
The couple traveled the New England states the following year seeking a bed & breakfast business venture and decided on the Hamptons, eastern Long Island, NY where they bought and restored the 3 century old historic "Old Post House Inne" and restaurant in the village of Southampton. They have the disctinction of successfully renovating and operating their quaint accommodations business in a historic landmark building in the business community until selling in 1999 when they retired permanently.
On September 13, 2013 Cecile and Ed celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 2nd at the Alexander Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River, NY; Burial was at Calverton National Cemetary, Calverton, NY. Donations: St. John The Baptist Church, 1488 North Country Road, Wading River, NY 11792
