Biography

Born: January 18, 1973
Died: February 23, 2014
Age: 41

Kathleen Loretta Meechan (Kate), 41 died unexpectedly on February 23, 2014. She was born in Patchogue, New York on January 18, 1973 to Peter and Kathy Meechan.

She is survived by her sons Andrew and Jason Nucatola of Baiting Hollow, New York, her parents Peter and Kathy Meechan, and four sisters: Rose (Frank) Morton, Loretta (Brian) Henry, Maggie Figueroa and Mary Meechan. She was a loving aunt to three nephews and two nieces. She is predeceased by her cousin, Paula Meechan Tshudy, who died in 2012.

Kate was a devoted single parent who worked tirelessly to support her children, doing so with a smile on her face every day. She was selflessly generous to those in need and maintained a cheerful, positive attitude toward anyone who needed a friend. She was happiest raising her children, celebrating their achievements, encouraging them, and spending time with family. Being a great parent and aunt were very important to Kate, and she was a wonderful presence in the lives of those closest to her.

Kate graduated from Longwood High School and worked in the appeals department of the Internal Revenue Service for twenty-two years.

A wake for Kate will be held on Friday February 28 from 2-4 and 7-9. A funeral mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church at 9am on Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to offset education expenses for Kate’s children.

We make a living by what we get;
we make a life by what we give.
